Community Futures of Central Island is an independent, non-profit organization consisting of volunteers and staff who are committed to fostering economic development and sustainable employment within the central Vancouver Island region. As such, our focus is to build community economic and entrepreneurial capacity, with an emphasis on long range strategic planning and results.

Since its inception in 1975, Community Futures of Central Island has assisted more than 2,000 businesses with either start-up or expansion funds, provided over $15 million in debt and equity financing, and have leveraged an additional $20 million from other sources. As a result, more than 2,500 jobs have been created for local residents wthin our service region.

 Industry Canada will be hosting a webinar on the Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program on January 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time/10:00 a.m. Pacific time (only in English). Created to bolster innovation in Canada's business sector, the Program helps businesses bridge the pre-commercialization gap for their innovative goods and services.

MISTIC is hosting an Innovation Forum in partnership with the Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program on January 25, 2012 at the Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo.  The agenda and registration process is attached.  There is no charge to attend the forum, which is open to the public.
